The CHERISH Programme is 10-year flagship integrated programme of OKM Foundation aimed at restoring degraded ecosystems, strengthening climate resilience, improving livelihoods, and promoting sustainable community transformation across the Cherangany Hills Ecosystem covering Elgeyo/Marakwet, West Pokot, Uasin Gishu and Trans-Nzioa Counties. The programme is Patronized by Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, CS Interior and National Administration and it targets to rehabilitate degraded landscapes, protection of critical water sources, biodiversity conservation, and creation of over 500,000 green jobs.
The programme integrates ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, green livelihoods, youth and women empowerment, education and skills development, nature-based enterprises, and strategic partnerships to build resilient ecosystems and inclusive green economies.

CHERISH also promotes peacebuilding, environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and community participation through initiatives such as sports tournaments, tree-growing campaigns, biodiversity conservation activities, and the Cherangany Peace & Conservation Run. Through partnerships with government, development partners, private sector organizations, academia, and communities, CHERISH seeks to create long-term environmental, social, and economic impact while contributing to Kenya’s climate resilience, restoration, and sustainable development agenda.
